  • JabberFoX is a Jabber client for Mac OS X and the name stands for 'Jabber For OS X'. Jabber is an open source instant messaging system fully based on XML. Macintosh Computers

  1. If you do not already have Jabber installed on your machine, please contact your local IT Support or Tech Central.
  2. Local IT Support or Tech Central will provide the Jabber installer. You can also click the image below to download the installer file.
  3. Double click the installer package. Click through the installer program, selecting the local hard drive for destination.
  4. Open Cisco Jabber application
  5. TheJabber application will prompt for login:
  6. Enter your Pepperdine email address in its entirety and click 'Continue':
  7. The Jabber client will locate and populate the server information:
  8. Please enter your network username and password and click 'Sign In'. If you are off campus, your email address is displayed in the name field. You must change this to your network userid.:
  9. Once authenticated, the Jabber client will open up to the following window with Phone, IM, and voicemail access.
    * If you are prompted with an invalid voicemail service credential, please click 'Cancel'. Voicemails are delivered via email using Google Gmail.

Windows Computers

  1. If you do not already have Jabber installed on your machine, please contact your Local IT Support or Help Desk for more information. Otherwise:
  2. The Jabber installer will be provided by the Local IT Support or Help Desk. You can also click the image below to download the installer file:
  3. Install Jabber with the standard windows installation wizard, clicking next all the way through:
  4. When the installation is finished, launch the Jabber application by double-clicking the desktop icon:
  5. Enter your full Pepperdine email address and click 'Continue':
    FirstName.LastName@pepperdine.edu
  6. The following dialogue box will appear. Do not change the user account, instead enter your windows (AD) password.
  7. Your installation of Jabber is complete.
    Note: Please disregard message to update the Voicemail credentials. Voicemails are delivered through your Pepperdine Gmail account and can be ignored.

Overview of Cisco Jabber

Cisco Jabber offers secure collaboration with campus contacts and is available for use on PC or Mac, as well as mobile devices such as Android, iPhone/iPod, and iPad. You can use Cisco Jabber as a chat client-only, or enable the additional Jabber Softphone feature to use your computer as a phone, without the need of a physical desk phone.

  • Alert when Available – Receive alerts when a contact becomes available.

**IMPORTANT NOTE FOR macOS USERS

The Cisco Jabber client for macOS here at NC State requires an InCommon Certificate that is not included with macOS by default. The certificate must be added to the user’s keychain. Please follow the guidance notes.

Good Jabber Client For Mac Download

        1. Visit the Self Service page to enable the service. The page will open in a new tab. **Note: VPN required to access the Self Service page when off-campus.
          1. Click the Jabber Chat Services – Multiplatform option to enable ONLY the chat client.
          2. Click the Jabber Chat Services – Multiplatform option AND the Jabber Softphone option to enable BOTH Chat and Softphone features.
        2. You must enable the service for EACH of the devices you wish to use Cisco Jabber Softphone.
        3. Once you have enabled the service(s), close the tab.
        4. Download the software (or install the App) for each device:
          Note: Please read the Cisco Jabber device requirements – Jabber FAQs -before downloading.
        5. Refer to the Installation and Setup Guide for Cisco Jabber for your specific device (click the Training Resources link below).
        6. Upload a Profile Picture – Faculty / Staff Accounts.

        **Specific guidance for Non-Managed Macs:
        Go to Cisco Jabber for Mac Upgrade Info and click the download link. You should see something to the effect of “InCommon RSA Server CA.crt or .cer. Download and install the cert on your Mac.

        **Specific guidance for Managed Macs:
